From Carpet To Websites - With Real Estate In Between

First, a little about me. My name is Steve and my wife, Kate Ford, is the webmaster of this site.

Together we have collaborated to build two informational websites related to the real estate industry. Our mission is to educate the regular person on the street about buying and owning real estate.

We've been involved with real estate a long time. In 1978, I owned a company in California called Golden Carpet. We were located in Long Beach, California near Long Beach City College.

I was really a one man band. I sold carpet. I installed carpet. I was general manager, bookkeeper, and president as well as any other title you might want to give me.

As I got older, my knees began to suffer. I developed water on the knee and had to have them drained occasionally. Have you ever had a doctor digging around in your knee with a big thick needle? Well, it hurts.

My knees were making it mighty obvious that change was necessary to my career path.

Real Estate In Long Beach, California

California real estate was pretty hot in 1978 so I decided to get my real estate license. Now be aware I had no experience in buying and selling houses.

My own parents had never owned their own home and I didn't own a home of my own either. So I was a complete and total novice.

Anyway, I got my license just when the bubble burst in 1979 with the Lincoln Savings and Loan debacle.

Never the less, I managed to make a living and was able to gradually leave behind the old carpet business.

Over the years, Kate and I have accumulated many experiences in the real estate industry.

If you follow Kate on Twitter, I'm sure you know what I mean.

So why am I telling you this? First, I want you know that I have been where you are. I have passed through these same devastating cycles 3 or 4 times.

Now you probably think I am going to tell you to stick to it. It will all turn around.

Well, you're right. It will turn around and if you have the determination and financial staying power to stick with it, you may reap the benefit. I would be very happy if that happened for you.

SBI! Another Path To Explore

But here's another path. I recently discovered another alternative and don't want to keep it to myself. So here I go.

I'll be the first to tell you that SBI! is not for everyone. It's only for the entrepreneurial type.

That's why I have addressed this article to Real Estate Professionals.

As a whole, Realtors like you are one of the most entrepreneurial groups. Entrepreneurs are different from business owners and capitalists. You tend to think bigger. That's why you are a Real Estate Professional!
